DuPage County Forest Preserve District - Established in 1915 when voters cast ballots to protect against the removal of woodlands. Today, the Forest Preserve District owns and manages more than 24,000 acres and has an annual budget of more than $175 million. Kane County Forest Preserve District - It shall be the mission of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County to acquire, hold, and maintain lands within Kane County, which contribute to the preservation of natural and historic resources and habitats, flora or fauna; to restore, restock, protect and preserve such lands for the education, recreation, and pleasure of all its citizens. Macon County Conservation District - The Macon County Conservation District manages over 3200 acres of land including mature oak-hickory forests, river and stream flood-plain, wetlands, and open natural habitats that support a variety of plants and animals. McHenry County Conservation District - The McHenry County Conservation District owns or manages over 18,000 acres of beautiful open land with young and old trees, prairies, wetlands, ponds, creeks, and rivers.
